"What I'd Like to Say to doctors/educators"
"Please treat the individual. And, if you don't know the answer to a question, be honest about it. Being human is okay, and parents must realize and accept this too. A professional's role is to provide advice, assistance and teaching, but parents should never become so dependent upon others that they lose sight of their child's best interests. I am frequently unsure of what should come next in my child's treatment/education plan, but I would rather feel empowered to make informed decisions than enslaved by someone else's agenda which may or may not be right for my child."
